We missed April, but to make up for that, we will be hosting TWO SUP events in May!
Our first SUP event: SUPrize, will be this coming Friday, May 2! This is more or less the same as the previous SUP events, but with a little surprise and a prize to boot. To find out what either or both are, come join us at our usual spot – Harvest Noon.
Secondly, we’re very excited to announce that we will be hosting a joint event later in the month with students from York University’s Master of Environmental Studies (MES). This will be a slightly different vibe, taking place at the CSI Annex. If you can’t make it out to SUPrize, be sure to come out and mingle with current students and alumni of MES for (MES)SUP on Thursday, May 22!
With warmer weather upon us, we are looking forward to more outdoor festivities. Be sure to stay posted and see you soon!
Our last event was such a success that we decided to do it again!
Our next event is taking place Thursday, March 20th at Harvest Noon. This is the same venue as our last event. But if you’ve never been, check out this post for directions.
For this event, we decided to change it up and include a theme: How are you being disruptive? This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be in order to attend or that you’re doing anything radical. We just wanted to be able to start a conversation around how we are all pushing for change.
We hope that you will join us for a fun night of cheap drinks and good conversations!
This is a free event and we look forward to seeing everyone on March 20th!
Don’t forget to RSVP on our Facebook Event Page
Thank you so much to everyone who attended our very first SUP event! It was a huge success with lots of great conversation and cheap drinks (as promised by our tagline ;)). We have received tons of positive feedback and we hope to make this a regular occurrence. We want to continue fostering these discussions and build a strong community of young green people in Toronto!
Stay tuned for more information about future SUP events!
In the meantime, check out the photos from our first event here and some highlights below.

Thanks again and we hope to see you at our next event in March!

Hey everyone! We hope you’re getting excited for our first social on Thursday evening. Getting to Harvest Noon can be a bit tricky if you’re not familiar with UofT campus, so here’s a map of how to get here by TTC or foot (or bicycle if you’re brave enough in this cold) the easiest. If you walk via Spadina Crescent and walk onto the diagonal footpath, you will be able to see the giant GSU Pub sign – we’re situated on the second floor of that building. We will have some signs posted just in case.
#GreenPeopleTO was created to address the lack of social events for young environmentalists in the city of Toronto. We are a group of twenty-somethings that see a lot of potential in bringing together the young (and young-ish) green people of this beautiful city for a low-cost night of good conversation and making new friends!
Our first series of events is called SUP: A Social, Undefined Plan.
Toronto is a huge hub for environmental professionals but many recent graduates from environmental programs are having difficulty getting into the industry. It can be very stressful and while green networking events can be really fun, it can also be hard to enjoy yourself with all the pressure to find employment.
We like to think of SUP as more of a social than a networking event, but it’s a great way to get to know people studying and working on the same issues you are passionate about, bounce ideas around, and gain insight on opportunities in different sectors.
The purpose of SUP is simple: we provide a venue and cheap beer. You bring yourself (and like-minded friends) to meet other young people who want to see a more sustainable world.
Don’t work in the green sector? Not a problem!
Never attended a green event before? Let this be your first!
Want to join the environmental community? This is for you!
Need a job?…have another beer 🙂
This is a free event and we look forward to meeting everyone on February 6th!
